My grandma has lived in Maroochydore since I can remember and we always spend Christmas up there with her so that the family can all be together. The best part is spending time with granny and taking her to her favorite beaches and wildlife reserves. She is still a keen golfer so we will also take her out for a round of golf as part of her Christmas visit.

We live in Brisbane which is a short 1 hour drive to Maroochydore and into the Sunshine coast hinterlands and rainforests. There is so much to do and see here on the sunshine coast that we often run out of time before we get to do everything. This year we decided to visit Australia Zoo and see all of the Australian wildlife, big crocs and the new elephants they have there. The zoo even has a hospital for the sick koala’s which have been catching an animal STD which was some kind of infection. The koala’s are nursed back to health and then generally released back into the wild.

Even though we live so close I still hire a car to get around Maroochydore because the two cars we have at home will not fit our entire family unless we take them both. We discussed this and decided to do the environment a favor and only drive one car so we hire the car online and then pick it up when we reach the airport at Maroochydore.
